Abstract Buried cables are located in harsh environments with high corrosion, uneven soil acidity and alkalinity, groundwater immersion, resulting complex structures. Especially for long-distance 10 kV transmission cables, the path planning is relatively long cannot be connected at once, requiring a connection middle end of cable. The production cable joints generally carried out foundation pit or well, processes manual throughout entire process, which avoid technical deviations. Therefore, line faults mostly occur intermediate joints. Due to distribution temperature field caused by accumulation electric field, heat transferred outward from peeling chamfer point, heating. In addition skin effect proximity current, process point main insulation outer semiconducting layer intensified, then gradually broken down, causing short circuit ground fault. This article first studies joint, considers installing small sensor joint powered electromagnetic energy coil, can monitor abnormal changes real-time.
